The Adventure of Sea of Stars

Sea of Stars weaves a captivating tale of two Children of the Solstice, Valere and Zale. Their destiny is to become Solstice Warriors, the only beings with the power to vanquish the terrifying creatures of an evil alchemist named The Fleshmancer. Their quest involves mastering Sun and Moon powers and merging their strengths to cast potent Eclipse Magic. Adding to the immersive experience is the original soundtrack of Sea of Stars, brought to life by the collaboration between Sabotage Studio’s composer Eric W. Brown and legendary composer Yasunori Mitsuda, known for his work on Chrono Trigger.

Key Features

Sea of Stars boasts several remarkable features to engage players. It introduces Active Turn-Based Combat, wherein synchronized action with battle animations enhances a hero’s attacks and minimizes damage during defense. The combat system also includes strategic “locks” for different damage types and boosting, offering a refreshed take on the RPG genre, without any random encounters, transitions to separate battlefields, or grinding.

Unshackled Traversal allows players to swim, climb, vault, jump off or scale ledges as they navigate the game world with platformer expertise, moving away from traditional, ground-bound tileset movement.

Sea of Stars delivers a rich narrative adventure, where players encounter numerous original characters and progress through unforgettable narrative arcs. The game strikes a balance between epic, emotional, and sometimes silly moments, showcasing classic themes of adventure and friendship, along with unexpected twists typical of a Sabotage Studio production.

Moreover, Sea of Stars emphasizes a fun, grind-free gaming experience. The game encourages tactical thinking in combat, making defeat a call for revising battle plans rather than hours of repetitive gameplay to improve odds in a rematch.

The world of Sea of Stars offers various immersive activities such as sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern for a song, or engaging in a tabletop game known as “Wheels”. These elements contribute to a smooth, modernized experience that pays tribute to classic RPGs.

Lastly, the game uses Radiant Lighting and a dynamic day/night cycle to bring every area to life, pushing the traditional boundaries of 2D pixel art games. This feature aptly enhances the narrative of heroes harnessing the powers of the Sun and the Moon.
