As the world of Pokemon GO reaches its seventh year of existence, a special Anniversary Party event has been announced. This occasion, scheduled to take place from Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time, is set to introduce a variety of features, including rotating bonuses, Gimmighoul coins, and a variety of Pokemon appearances each day.
Among the special features of this event are new costumed Pokemon. Party Hat Wartortle and Blastoise are scheduled to make their debut. These versions of Wartortle and Blastoise can be evolved from Squirtle wearing a party hat using Squirtle Candy. The event also offers a chance to encounter Shiny versions of these Pokemon.
The event offers trainers several bonuses. An increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends or having Pokemon become Lucky through trades will be available. Additionally, spinning a PokéStop with a Golden Lure Module could yield 7, 77, or even more Gimmighoul Coins.
Each day of the event will offer its unique bonuses, such as doubled XP for catching Pokemon on July 6 and halved Egg Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in an Incubator on July 9. Other bonuses include doubled Candy for catching Pokemon on July 8, and transferring Pokemon on July 11, with other bonuses scheduled for the other days.
A range of Pokemon, including Party Hat Squirtle, Cake Hat Pikachu, Meowth, Ponyta, and Togedemaru, will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. Some trainers may encounter Galarian Ponyta and Absol. Specific Pokemon will also appear more frequently on certain days, such as Party Hat Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on July 6, with different Pokemon lined up for the remaining days of the event.
Raid battles during the event will feature a variety of Pokemon, ranging from Party Hat Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, and Cake Hat Pikachu in One-Star Raids, to Pokemon such as Magneton, Lapras, Flareon, Snorlax, and Sealeo in Three-Star Raids. Five-Star Raids will see appearances from Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, while Mega Raids will feature Mega Blastoise.
Anniversary-themed Field Research tasks will be available during the event. Completion of these tasks will lead to encounters with first-partner Pokemon, and also award Mega Energy for specific Pokemon. There will also be an opportunity to purchase event-exclusive Timed Research, which upon completion, will yield various rewards, including encounter with a Pikachu wearing a party hat.
As part of the 7th Anniversary Party, a Masterwork Research story titled “All-in-One #151” is available for purchase. This provides a chance for an encounter with the elusive Shiny Mew. Those who purchase this Masterwork Research story will enjoy additional bonuses during the event.
Celebrations for the 7th anniversary include a Squirtle Community Day Classic scheduled for Sunday, July 9, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time.
New avatar items and stickers will be available for purchase during the event and will remain available after it ends. Trainers can also obtain event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, or purchasing them from the in-game shop.
